Veg Box Newsletter 30/07/17

Hello Folks,

After a warm few weeks we’re back to weather more typically associated with summer in the west of Scotland. Sunlight levels have dropped, meaning some of our crops have been growing more slowly than in previous weeks, including our salads and courgettes. On the other hand many of our crops, such as celery, are enjoying the more frequent rainfall.

Despite the downturn in weather we harvested our first of the season’s garlic bulbs, French beans and tomatoes this week, and are starting to see more flowers on our rapidly growing cucumber plants. The crops know it’s summer even if we have to keep reminding ourselves of it.

Keep your entries coming for the Munch of the Month competition by sharing your veg box creations with us on social media, tagged with #locavoremm and #locavorevegbox.

The Open Food Network is now open for orders for delivery with your veg box next week. Now available on there, we have cavolo nero from Left Field market garden, and Co-Yo coconut yoghurt.
