Hello Folks,
This will be the last week of Scottish grown onions until later in the year, as we’re now starting to enter the hunger gap – the intermediate period between the end of the winter produce and beginning of spring produce.
Check out our veggiepedia for recipe inspiration, and if you haven’t already, join your fellow subscribers in our Facebook group.
Enter our Munch of the Month competition to be in with a chance to win a hamper of ethical goods from our shop. All you have to do is share a photo of a dish you’ve made using your veg box produce on Instagram or Facebook, along with a brief description of what you’ve made and the tags #locavoremm and #locavorevegbox.
In the veg boxes this week:
small potatoes, carrots, onions, squash, chestnut mushrooms, kale
standard potatoes, carrots, red onions, leeks, parsnips, squash, chestnut mushrooms, sprout tops
large potatoes, carrots, red onions, leeks, squash, jerusalem artichokes, chestnut mushrooms, sprout tops, watercress, salad
extra large potatoes, carrots, red onions, leeks, squash, jerusalem artichokes, chestnut mushrooms, sprout tops, kale, watercress, salad
fruit #1 blood oranges
fruit #2 Fiesta apples
fruit #3 Honeydew melon
fruit #4 bananas
fruit #5 dates
small foreign veg broccoli*, garlic, black cherry roma tomatoes
standard foreign veg broccoli*, avocado, radish, garlic, black cherry roma tomatoes
*we are aware that the broccoli could be in better condition, so we’ve added extra tomatoes to the foreign veg bags to make up for it
Enjoy!
