Hello Folks,
We have some beautiful red sprout tops grown at Royal Oak Farm (situated north of Liverpool) going into all of this week’s veg boxes. As their name helpfully describes, sprout tops are the leaves that grow into a rose-like blossom at the crown of the Brussels sprouts stalk. They have a wonderful flavour (taste the subtle hint of Brussels sprouts!) and can be used as you would any dark leafy green or cabbage leaf. Simply chop off the thick stalks, slice them down and add them to your stir-fries, curries and soups, or simply sauté in oil/butter with crushed garlic and chilli flakes until they wilt down into a delicious side dish.
In other news, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has attended or supported any of our zero waste events over the past few months.
