This week’s Veg Boxes have got some lovely radish from down at
Organic Pantry. Here’s some more about their own organic farming
journey:
“During the conversion we planted up all of
the hedging around the farm leaving a 4 meter headland around the
fields, this creates a habitat for predator bugs as part of a pest
control strategy. This also increases the diversity of the bird life,
something of which we are very proud! We have seen the return of the
corn buntings, field sparrows, gray partridges, curlew and even wild
quail.”
For all of you with a Supplementary Veg Bag, there’s lovage in the bag this week. We looked into what you can do with it and found a page of nice Spring recipes here.
Thank you to our customers who donate to the Good Food Fund. The money raised buys fruit and veg for projects that support people living in food poverty. Some of our partners, such as Auldhouse Community Foodbank, Central and West Integration Network, Govan Community Project and Queen’s Park Govanhill Parish Church Foodbank run independent foodbanks that would otherwise rarely be able to offer fresh fruit and veg. In May 2019 we sent £1157.05 worth of donations of fruit and veg to our partners.
