Hello Folks,
This week sees the welcome return of carrots to the veg boxes! Our boxes are also currently containing a great deal of produce from our own Left Field farm in Neilston, including lettuce, chard, kale, salad mix, kohl rabi and basil across the different sizes and supplemtary bags. You’ll be happy to hear, this produce is not only delicious, but as fresh and local as you could possibly get outwith growing your own!
Unfortunately, some of the fruit bags being delivered this friday will be slightly smaller than usual as we’ve found ourselves with a lot fewer gooseberries that we expected to have. Any customers who don’t receive gooseberries in their fruit bag will receive a credit on their account to the same value.
We’d like to wish a very warm welcome to Adam, who is now permanently joining Charlotte and Katie on the veg box & wholesale admin team. You may have already been in correspondence with him over the past few months whilst he was covering annual leave, and as part of the restructuring of our team since Kimberley’s departure, we’re very happy to have him on board!
The foodbanks that your Good Food Fund donations support tell us that the lack of choice is a big factor in making this an undignified way to receive food. Most of the food in these projects is sourced from supermarket surplus and from donations. Govan Community Project recently consulted with the people who use their foodbank and found that they were asking for tomatoes and strawberries. No other donating partner of a foodbank would be able to respond to a request. We are happy to now send tomatoes and strawberries to GCP every Wednesday so that your donations provide fresh fruit and veg and also support their push for more dignity in emergency food provision.
