We’ve had a busy weekend of moving our office and veg box packing equipment from the back of our shop on Victoria Road to the new Veg Box HQ here at Bellahouston Nursery. It’s fantastic for us to finnaly have moved and now be in a space with around four times as much space!
Lots of new space means we can finnaly start opening up the veg boxes to new customers. This week we will start by delivering to around 100 new subscribers who supported our recent crowdfunder campaign which both paid to make the move here, and put a deposit down on electric van.
The electric van has been doing great and so far and has driven over 1000 miles which equates to a carbon saving of around 250kg of co2 compaired to running a diesel van! A huge thanks to those of you who supported this.
This week is meat box so if that’s part of your subscription then make some space in the fridge/freezer. This month we have lots of sausages coming from peelham farm and whole chickens from Hugh Grierson. All the meat is organic, Scottish and free-range.
If you make a donation to the Good Food Fund we would like to say a massive thank you. In August we were able to send £1704.74 worth of fruit and veg to project including Al Farooq Education and Community Centre, Auldhouse Community Foodbank, Central and West Integration Network, Gal Gael, Govan Community Project, Govanhill Community Canteen, The Marie Trust and Queens Park Govanhill Parish Church Foodbank. These are all independent foodbanks or community meals that rely mainly on surplus from supermarkets. They rarely receive fresh fruit and veg on this sourcing route, so the produce we send thanks to your donations is massively appreciated in these projects. If you would like to make a donation weekly then let us know.
