Our cafe is located within our Govanhill shop but is much more than your average supermarket canteen. It’s unique by being the only fully organic place to eat out within Glasgow, and by having a direct link with our own organic market garden and our network of other small local producers.
Our café makes the most of seasonal abundance following what is available from our market garden, as well as using up excess produce from the shop to prevent waste. For us it is all about tasty food which is sustainable and freshly prepared from scratch in our kitchen every day. We have plenty on offer for the vegan or vegetarian, as well as the Locavore.
The larder of the cafe is our shop where you can purchase all the ingredients we use including meats from Peelham, cheese from Loch Arthur, pulses and grains which are predominantly grown in the UK, and vegetables which are grown within a few miles.
Our menu features a special which changes every day, a rolling selection of salads, and a daily soup or stew. Also on offer is a fixed range of open sandwiches and the ‘Locavore Fare’; an updated ploughmans plate which includes a selection of our salads and dips alongside cheese, ham and sour dough bread.
Overall we hope our cafe can be held as example of food sustainability in practice by being fully organic, by sourcing local, and by offering a menu which is good for vegans and vegetarians as well as Locavores.
Review: “Locavore is the future. We can’t afford NOT to shop and eat there.” – Johanna Blythman
We also provide a catering service, and help other caterers, cafes and restaurants adopt more sustainable and organic sourcing through our wholesale service.
