Veg Box Newsletter w/c 01.04.19

Hello Folks,

We’re in the process of creating a new sign up form and would like to include guidance on what size veg box to get depending on household size. We’ve had a lot of discussion over this, and figured the best way to work it out would be to ask you, our customers! We’d be incredibly grateful if you could complete our survey, and if you enter before 9am on Friday 5th of April you can enter the prize draw to be in for a chance to win a hamper of delightful goods from our shop.

April is upon us, and that means we’re starting a new cycle of monthly specials with the meat boxes this week. You can find more information about our monthly specials here, as well as their delivery schedule. If you’d like to add one to your order, drop us an email at subscribers@glasgowlocavore.org.

The leafy greens are starting to lighten up our Veg Boxes – so our livers are in for a cleansing after all those indulgent winter nights. You’ll see yummy watercress from John Hurd’s who’ve been growing it for over 40 years down in Wiltshire and Dorset. We’ve got the last of our own claytonia (otherwise known as miner’s lettuce) in most Veg Boxes – so savour every last little spade. There’s also spinach in Extra Large Veg Boxes from our farm at Rouken Glen which was sewn last Autumn and is finally ready! Floortje from the farm reports back that since the Spring Equinox she’s noticed lots of plants filling out in response to the longer days. Fingers crossed we have a good year!

We have some exciting events coming up over the next few months: film screenings, workshops, foraging walks and more. You can see all of our events listed on our website here, or you can buy tickets for some events directly through our Citizen Ticket profile. We’ve started using this instead of Eventbrite as it donates half the booking fee you pay to charity, our chosen charity is Social Bite who are on a mission to end homelessness in Scotland.
