The Nice Bit

Here’s a little splendid thing for you: the scant sunshine of this early-early-Springtime, when Spring is less a reality than it is a collective hope, has been transformed by the work of gentle hands into flowers. Glowing yellow, the daffodils promise brighter days to come.

One part of what is so wonderful is that these are ethical, Glasgow-grown, organic, pollinator-friendly flowers. The people who grow them (mainly Amy at the moment- hi Amy!) are paid at least the real living wage, so when you buy a bouquet you’re supporting Locavore and a way of seeing things that says: we can have beautiful things without harming or mistreating people and the environment. Most supermarket flowers are sold as loss-leaders, so they cut corners whereever they can, importing (generally airfreighting) them from massive flower farms with sometimes-dubious treatment of workers. All that rather takes away some of the charm of those off-season blooms. Instead, invest in the future of flowers when you buy a bouquet from us. A bouquet of flowers arriving alongside your veg box is a perfect cheering treat, and also makes a wonderful gift for anyone you know who deserves a little colour and light to hurry Spring along.

Flowers are currently very limited as the season is just getting started, so please email us to add a bouquet onto your next delivery.
