Veg Box Newsletter 28th March: Munch of the Month

Headlines

The New System is Here!

We hope you’re enjoying using our new website to manage your orders! So far, feedback has been really good, and we hope to keep making it better, so watch this space! If you need help using it, please send us an email and we’ll be more than happy to help!

We’ve Moved

We loved our old Veg Box HQ in Bellahouston Park, but we ran out of space quite quickly, so we’re pleased to say we’ve now moved into a much bigger warehouse in Oatlands. It means we have a lot more room to keep growing, so look out for a friends and family referral scheme coming soon! But don’t worry- Locavore has big plans for Bellahouston Nursery, including community plots (apply for one now!) Our florists are already based there, and we had an amazing crop of tomatoes last summer- look out for more veg from Bella in your boxes soon.

The Nice Bit

This month we’re bringing back the Munch of the Month contest, in which you have chance to win a hamper of goodies from our shops delivered alongside your veg box, just by sharing a photo of something you’ve cooked with your veg. If you’ve been a subscriber for a while, you’ll remember how much fun this contest is, but in case you’re a more recent member of the big happy veg box family, I thought I’d talk a little bit this week about why we’re bringing it back.

Having a veg box is mostly a lot of fun. Getting fresh seasonal veg delivered to your doorstep can help you stay in touch with where your food comes from and the work that goes into growing it. It can help you to be creative with how you cook, encouraging you to try new dishes and methods to make the most out of what’s growing. But when you’re short on time or energy, the imagination it takes to figure out what’s for dinner can be a little out of reach.

Luckily, however, you’re never doing it alone. Not only do you have the veg box team and our sometimes-helpful newsletter to help spark ideas, you also have the whole community of other veg box subscribers. You lot are out there cooking incredible meals every week, and helping each other find ways to make trickier ingredients work for you, whether it’s making courgettes palatable for 6-year-olds (fritters!) or what a jerusalem artichoke can be used for, on our Facebook group. We want to celebrate the everyday cooking you do at home, as well as the special occasion meals. Post about your go-to use for parsnips or a new method for cooking cauliflower- it could inspire some of your fellow veg boxers.

And if you post a photo on Instagram or in our Facebook group, and tag it with #LocavoreMM and #LocavoreVegBox, you could win a hamper of goodies alongside your veg box. We’ll also feature your meal in this newsletter. We’ll pick a winner on the last Friday of the month, so get cooking!
